CTET 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the CTET or Central Teacher Eligibility Test as a national-level exam in India. The CTET was initiated under the 2009 Right to Education Act (RTE) to make certain that teachers have the requisite qualifications and skills to fulfill the educational needs of children in the primary (Classes 1–5) and elementary (Classes 6–8) stages. It is a mandatory eligibility criterion for teaching positions in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and other institutions that recognize the CTET certificate.

How to Apply for CTET Exam 2025?

  • Website: ctet.nic.in
  • Click on the official site and select “Apply for CTET.” 
  • Register as a new user to get an application number and password. 
  • Log in, fill in personal and educational details, and choose the exam center. 
  • Upload a scanned photograph (4–100 KB) and signature (1–25 KB) in JPG format. 
  • Pay the application fee online (debit/credit card, net banking, or e-challan). 
  • Download the confirmation page.

Eligibility Criteria for CTET Exam 2025

  • Age: Minimum 18 years; no upper age limit.

Educational Qualifications

  • Paper 1 (Classes 1–5)
    • The candidate must have completed Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalence) with at least 50 % marks and must also have a 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    • OR Senior Secondary with 45% marks and D.El.Ed as per NCTE norms.
    • OR Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed.
    • OR Graduation with a 2-year D.Ed (Special Education) or B.Ed (with conditions).
  • Paper 2 (Classes 6–8)
    • Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed.
    • OR Graduation with 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed.
    • OR Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed or BA/BSc Ed.

                   Candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying courses are also eligible.

CTET 2025: Selection Process

  • The exam is conducted offline (pen-and-paper mode) in two shifts: 
  • Paper 1: Morning (~9:30 AM–12:00 PM) for teaching Classes 1–5.
  • Paper 2: Afternoon (~2:00 PM–4:30 PM) for teaching Classes 6–8.
  • Each paper lasts 2.5 hours and consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 150 marks, with no negative marking.

Exam Structure

  • Paper 1: Child Development and Pedagogy (30 marks), Language I (30 marks), Language II (30 marks), Mathematics (30 marks), Environmental Studies (30 marks).
  • Paper 2: Child Development and Pedagogy (30 marks), Language I (30 marks), Language II (30 marks), Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies (60 marks).
  • Candidates must attempt the paper(s) they applied for.

Result Declaration

  • Results are announced on the official website, typically within 4–6 weeks after the exam (expected August 2025).
  • Roll numbers will allow candidates to view their scores.
  • Qualifying Criteria
    • General Category: Minimum 60% (90/150 marks).
    • OBC/SC/ST/PwD: Minimum 55% (82/150 marks).
  • Qualifying candidates receive a CTET Eligibility Certificate, valid for a lifetime, which is issued digitally via DigiLocker or downloadable from the CTET website.

CTET 2025 Salary Structure

The salary varies by teaching level—Primary Teacher (PRT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), or Post Graduate Teacher (PGT)—and is aligned with the 7th CPC for central government schools. Below is the estimated salary structure:

1. Primary Teacher (PRT) – Classes 1 to 5

  • Pay Scale: ₹9,300–₹34,800 (Level 6 of 7th CPC).
  • Basic Pay: Starts at approximately ₹35,400 per month.
  • In-Hand Salary: ₹40,000–₹45,000 per month (after allowances and deductions).
  • Grade Pay: ₹4,200.

2. Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Classes 6 to 8

  • Pay Scale: ₹9,300–₹34,800 (Level 7 of 7th CPC).
  • Basic Pay: Starts at approximately ₹44,900 per month.
  • In-Hand Salary: ₹48,000–₹53,000 per month (after allowances and deductions).
  • Grade Pay: ₹4,600.

3. Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) – Classes 9 to 12

  • Pay Scale: ₹9,300–₹34,800 (Level 8 of 7th CPC).
  • Basic Pay: Starts at approximately ₹47,600 per month.
  • In-Hand Salary: ₹53,000–₹58,000 per month (after allowances and deductions).
  • Grade Pay: ₹4,800.
