The Staff Selection Commission Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar Examination 2025 is a national-level competitive exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). Havaldar has positions in many ministries, departments, and offices of the government of India. These are Group C, non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts offering stable government jobs for candidates with a minimum qualification of Matriculation (Class 10th).

How do I apply for the SSC MTS and Havaldar Exam 2025?

Mode: Online (ssc.gov.in). 

Steps: 

  • Go to ssc.gov.in and then click on the “Apply” button.
  • Tap on the link for “Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and for the Havaldar post, tap on Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination 2025.”
  • Register (new users) or log in (existing users) using basic details like name, contact info, and date of birth.
  • Fill out the application form with educational qualifications, age, category, preferred exam center, etc.
  • Upload scanned documents (photo, signature) as per specifications.
  • Pay the application fee (if applicable).
  • Submit and save your application form for the future.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC MTS and Havaldar Exam 2025

Nationality: 

  • Indian Nationals: Individuals who hold citizenship of India are eligible to apply.
  • Subjects of Nepal and Bhutan: Persons who are subjects of Nepal or Bhutan can apply, typically requiring a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India for certain posts.
  • Tibetan Refugees: Tibetan refugees who entered India before January 1, 1962, intending to permanently settle in the country, are eligible.
  • Persons of Indian Origin.
  • Non-Indian citizens require a No-Objection Certificate from the Government of India before appointment.

Age Limit (as of August 1, 2025): 

  • MTS and Havaldar in CBN: 18–25 years (born between August 2, 2000, and August 1, 2007).
  • Havaldar in CBIC and certain MTS posts: 18–27 years (born between 2. August.1998, and 1.August.2007). 

Age Relaxation: 

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwD: age limit 10 years (and for other 13 years -OBC, 15 years -SC/ST)
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service
  • Other categories: As per government norms.

Educational Qualification: 

  • Must have passed Matriculation (Class 10th) or equivalent from a recognized board by the application deadline (July 25, 2025).
  • Candidates appearing for the 10th exam are eligible to apply, but their results must be declared before the specified cutoff date.

SSC MTS 2025 Selection Process:

The selection process varies for MTS and Havaldar posts:

  • For MTS
    • Paper 1 (Computer-Based Examination): Objective-type, multiple-choice questions.
    • Candidates qualifying Paper 1 are shortlisted based on normalized scores.
  • For Havaldar
    • Paper 1 (Computer-Based Examination): Same as MTS.
    • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST): For candidates qualifying Paper 1.
  • Final Selection
    • MTS: Based on Paper 1 (Session II) performance.
    • Havaldar: Based on Paper 1 (Session II) and qualifying PET/PST.
    • No re-evaluation or re-checking of scores is allowed.

EXAM PATTERN

Paper 1 (CBT)

  • Mode: Online, exam will be conducted in Hindi, English, and 13 regional languages.
  • Structure: Divided into two mandatory sessions (Session I and Session II).
  • Session I (45 minutes): 
    • Numerical and Mathematical Ability: 20 questions, 60 marks
    • Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving: 20 questions, 60 marks
    • Total: 40 questions, 120 marks
    • Negative Marking: None
  • Session II (45 minutes): 
    • General Awareness: 25 questions, 75 marks
    • English Language and Comprehension: 25 questions, 75 marks
    • Total: 50 questions, 150 marks
    • Negative Marking: 1 mark per wrong answer
  • Normalization: if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts. 

 PET/PST (for Havaldar)

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
    • Male: 1600m walking in 15 minutes, cycling 8 km in 30 minutes.
    • Female: 1 km walking in 20 minutes, cycling 3 km in 25 minutes.
  • Physical Standard Test (PST)
    • Height: Male: 157.5 cm (relaxable by 2 cm for certain categories); Female: 152 cm (relaxable by 2.5 cm).
    • Chest (Male): 76 cm (unexpanded) with 5 cm expansion.
    • Weight (Female): Minimum 48 kg (relaxable by 2 kg for certain categories).
  • Relaxations apply for reserved categories and specific regions (e.g., Garhwalis, Gorkhas).

SYLLABUS

  • Session I
    • Numerical and Mathematical Ability: Number systems, decimals, fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, profit and loss, simple interest, time and work, averages, etc.
    • Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving: Analogies, classification, coding-decoding, series, blood relations, direction sense, puzzles, etc.
  • Session II
    • General Awareness: History, geography, polity, economics, science, current affairs, static GK, etc.
    • English Language and Comprehension: Vocabulary, grammar, sentence correction, synonyms/antonyms, comprehension passages, etc.
  • Difficulty Level: Easy to moderate, aligned with Class 10th standard.

VACANCIES

  • Expected Vacancies: will be announced with the notification on June 26, 2025.
  • Previous Year (2024): 9,583 vacancies (6,144 for MTS, 3,439 for Havaldar). 
  • Vacancies are distributed across states/UTs and categories, with separate lists for MTS and Havaldar posts.

SSC MTS and Havaldar Exam 2025 Salary & Benefits

Basic Pay: INR 18,000 (Pay Level-1, 7th Pay Commission). 

 In-Hand Salary: INR 18,000–22,000 per month (varies by city due to HRA).
